A space for feeling

The world outside.
The feeling within.

My artistic practice is centered on the expression of emotion through the world that surrounds us — through objects, nature, light, and atmosphere.

Although my collections may differ greatly in style and visual language, each one is built around a particular emotion or inner state.

My paintings are created primarily with acrylics. In nature, emotion is conveyed through light, atmosphere, and the overall mood of a scene. In my more minimalist works, feeling emerges through individual objects, their forms, shapes, and presence within the composition.

From the artist statement

An intuitive practice

Born and raised in Siberia, Russia, Vasilisa left her hometown at eighteen and lived in several Russian cities, including Saint Petersburg. Her mother, who painted throughout her life, introduced her to art at an early age.

Initially a veterinarian, she pursued design alongside medicine, eventually establishing a multidisciplinary design studio. After leaving Russia, painting grew from a deeply personal practice into the central form of her artistic expression.

Without formal fine-art training, her approach remains rooted in instinct, observation, and emotional experience. Today, Vasilisa lives and works in Dubai.

Vasilisa Kariagdyeva is a contemporary artist whose work explores emotion through light, atmosphere, objects, and memory — transforming familiar images into spaces for personal reflection.

Collection I — Intervals

Time No. 1

Acrylic on canvas · 41.9 × 29.7 cm5,167 AED

License · 300 AED

A small red sun holds its place within a field of blue. The distant landscape softens into colour, leaving the eye to move between a single point of warmth and the surrounding stillness. Time feels suspended, measured by attention rather than movement.

Time No. 2

Acrylic on canvas · 41.9 × 29.7 cm5,167 AED

License · 300 AED

A broad coral sky settles above a narrow band of green. Between them, a pale horizon creates a quiet interval where one colour gives way to another. The composition invites a slower gaze, tracing the subtle passage from intensity to calm.

Collection II — Free Fields

Free Fields No. 1

Acrylic on canvas · 23 × 23 cm6,061 AED

License from 300 AED

Broad strokes of green and gold sweep diagonally across the canvas. A broken seam interrupts their movement, opening a narrow space between overlapping fields of colour. The work invites the eye to follow the tension between flowing paint and the edges that hold it apart.

Free Fields No. 2

Acrylic on canvas · 23 × 23 cm5,198 AED

License from 300 AED

Green and yellow fields meet along an uneven horizon. Dark, textured passages gather at the edges, while vertical brushstrokes draw the gaze through the open centre. The painting brings a sense of growth and movement into a compact, quietly balanced composition.

Somewhere I Remember

Acrylic · 6 × 81,200–2,000 AED

The forest emerges through layers of mist, suspended between presence and disappearance. Some forms remain distinct while others dissolve into the atmosphere. The landscape becomes less a physical place than the unstable reconstruction of a memory.

The Distance Between Us

Acrylic · 8 × 61,200–2,000 AED

A fragile boundary crosses an otherwise open landscape. It is neither impenetrable nor imposing, yet it divides the space completely. The work explores the invisible distances that can exist between people, places, memories, and different versions of the self.

You Can Still Go Home

Acrylic · 16 × 121,400–2,400 AED

A solitary house stands at the end of a road beneath an impenetrable black sky. The way back remains visible, yet arrival offers no certainty. The work explores the difference between returning to a place and returning to what that place once meant.

Collection IV — Nocturne

The Road Remembers

Acrylic · 6 × 81,400–2,400 AED

A path continues toward a destination that no longer exists. The landscape remembers the act of going even after the reason for the journey has disappeared. The work explores how habits, attachments, and memories can outlive the places or people that once gave them meaning.

Collection V — Objects of Impulse

Before the Cut

Acrylic · 20 cm1,000–1,500 AED

The scissors remain open, suspended immediately before an irreversible action. Nothing has yet been separated, yet the possibility of separation already defines the image. The work explores the tension of a decision that divides experience into what existed before and what will exist after.

Hold It Together

Acrylic · 30 cm1,000–1,500 AED

An object made to connect exists entirely on its own. Removed from everything it was designed to hold together, the button becomes a contradiction between function and condition. The work reflects on the effort of remaining whole while feeling fundamentally detached.

03 / Artist statement
“Rather than simply depicting what can be seen, I am interested in what an image can make us feel.”
Vasilisa Kariagdyeva

Through my work, I invite the viewer to turn their attention inward, to reflect on themselves, their emotional state, and the feelings that often exist beyond words.
